The right to adequate clothing or the right to clothing is recognized as a human right in various international human right instrument, just like the right to food or the right to adequate standard of living. Over the years, it has been discovered that the decision on what to wear in present days seems like a whole lot of work with continuous change in the trend of clothing and in the fashion world at large. So it is therefore safe to say that fashion is an evolving thing.
A study revealed by “The Telegraph” says that an average woman will spend almost one year of her life deciding what to wear. Experts found out that an average woman spends as much as 16 minutes every weekday morning deciding what to wear and around 14 minutes on a Saturday or Sunday morning. That is a whole lot of time to spend on choosing what to wear. This seems to be a bit better with Men who do not take too long to decide on what to wear because they do not take into consideration some of the factors that the women do.
Women tend to choose what to wear mostly based on factors like their necessary urge to combine colors to make them look flashy and attractive, their body shape or physique, their mood on that particular day and sometimes their comfort. Personally, my point of view is that the choice of what to wear should be based on the following four factors that I am going to enumerate shortly.
First and foremost, people tend not to take into recognition the weather or climatic condition of their locations when choosing their outfits or attire. This may be due to the fact that most people are more concerned about their wants more than they are about their needs. There are specific and certain outfits for each climatic periods or seasons. For example, it will be a terrible idea to put on a thick black attire on a vigorously sunny day, while a thick leather jacket would not be such a bad idea on a rainy or a snowy day.
Another important factor to be considered is the type of occasion, venue of the occasion and also the theme of the outing. For a formal setting, a formal mode of dressing is required. It would be absolutely wrong to dress casually to a supposed official event. So also will it seem out of place to be officially dressed for a casual event, for example putting on a 3piece suit to a beach party is completely a terrible idea, so also is putting on heels to a beach party as compared to putting on a suit to a job interview, which is a wonderful idea.
Comfort is another important factor to be considered when choosing what to wear. It is important to pick a cloth or an attire that would not cause discomfort either physically to the body or psychologically. It is very essential to feel free and also feel at ease when putting on an outfit most especially if there is a possibility or tendency that it is going to be on for a long duration of time. In essence, it is important to be comfortable in what you are putting on.
Finally, one factor that tend to the wants of human is the desire to wear what is in vogue or what is trending in the world of fashion. People do that for different reasons, some do it to show off, some do it to improve their self-esteem so as not to feel intimidated or inferior, and some do it because it is their own idea of “fun”. But for whatsoever reason you are doing it, you do not want to put on a 1960 outfit in 2018, which means you would not want to look out of place in the present age world of fashion.
